Our Story
Like every Bengali, our co-founders, Biprashekhar and Kanad, grew up in a musically inclined household. Surrounded not just by the music of Rabindranath Tagore and Hemant Mukhopadhyay, they were exposed to Indian classical and Western music. Both childhood friends wanted to create a platform where budding artists could showcase their talent while music lovers could fill their lives with melody!

Gaanpeon: The Story, The Reason, And Everything in Between
Homesick, two young Bengali boys met in Bangalore while studying BSc in Biotechnology. Music kept them connected and grounded while coping with study pressures and traversing new territories.
Over the years, they kept in touch on and off while life took them to different places. But whenever they met, they connected and always reminisced about the latest music and a passion for doing something on their own, something together, and something for society.
While Bipra went on to finish his Ph.D., and Kanad worked with several top IT and FinTech companies across India, they never let that spark for entrepreneurship die.
Like all budding entrepreneurs, the co-founders, Bipra and Kanad, discussed many ideas, but nothing materialized. And in those moments of despair, music kept them invigorated.
And then came the Eureka moment!
During one of their meetings at Kanad’s place, when they saw his parents enjoying their evening tea while humming a song- the idea struck them..!!
Kolkata, the city with its rich cultural past, had a huge population of elderly people, who were alone and homebound, their children taking to yonder shores for career opportunities.
And what filled their lonely days was music. So, what can be better than a live musician arriving at their doorstep and singing their favorite songs while creating an atmosphere of festivity, laughter, and love.
This idea had a two-fold purpose.
One, was to provide a launching platform for young and budding artists. Not everyone can pursue their passion professionally, and they wanted to create a platform where dreams were realized.
Live music for most means crowded, pulsating concerts- full of young ones! But there are a lot of young at heart who cannot make it to these concerts. Through, Gaanpeon, they wanted to bring the concert vibe and live music to their home, rooftops, gardens, or anywhere music lovers reside.

Biprashekhar Chakraborty
A researcher turned entrepreneur and a student of life!
I learned to find and solve challenging problems during my doctoral days and am presently trying to apply the same in my entrepreneurial journey.
Listening to music has always influenced me a lot in different phases of my life. But I felt that many talented musicians never got their due, and their dreams were shattered. It is only the lucky few who get recognition.
I strongly believed in this philosophy and got very much attached to the idea of empowering musicians, leading Kanad and me to create Gaanpeon.
I dream of a space where musicians and music lovers will connect and create beautiful memories.
Kanad Bhattacharjee
Kanad is a training professional and works with a FinTech organisation. During one of our free-wheeling conversations, Bipra and I came up with the idea of Gaanpeon. My philosophy is that entrepreneurship is neither Science nor Art. It’s just a habit of venturing into new things.
I realised that not everyone can afford to attend concerts or live performances, but they should not be deprived of joy. Through our platform, the concert will come to your doorstep!
Through Gaanpeon, I wish to provide a platform for budding musicians, create exciting home-based shows, and enjoy customer delight.
For me, happiness is music, and music is happiness!

RAJYASREE BANDYOPADHYAY
This multi-genre , multi lingual singing maestro who has been performing for the last 3 decades holds a Master Degree in Music , from the reputed Rabindra Bharati University with having an “Outstanding” result. She is an “A” Grade artiste of All India Radio & Doordarshan , Kolkata.. Bandyopadhyay has been empanelled with ICCR – Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India. She is also a fellow of Ministry of Culture and she did research on music therapy & practices it too .
She is a well-known regular performer on stage, performing in India and abroad. She is a music composer, a music groomer, and a music judge. She has also done playback singing in Bengali and has several original albums. Bandyopadhyay is attached with ‘The Performing Arts Therapy Centre’ of Rabindra Bharati University as their committee member & a faculty.
Rajyasree Bandyopadhyay has received several awards, like Banga Shiromoni Samman, Sharod Samman, Banga Gourab Ananyo Samman, and many more.
TAPASH DAS
Das is a renowned Pakhawaj artist in the Dhrupad family. As an outstanding accompanist and soloist, he has performed along with reputed artists like Nasir Aminuddin Dagar, Pandit Ritwik Sanyal, Ustad Asad Ali Khan, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, Pandit Falguni Mitra and Ustad Rashid Khan, among others. He is the author of the book Pakhawaj Tradition of India. He has performed across India and globally!
Tapash Das is a highly acclaimed musician and has won several awards from the Government of West Bengal, the Government of India, and several international musical federations.
